Maureen Nwaokoro, a 2007 Maisin Scholar, is the 2013 Maisin Honor Award recipient. Growing up in a single-parent home, Maureen learned the importance of hard work at an early age and was a positive role model for her younger siblings. After graduating from Thurgood Marshall High School, she attended UC Davis and is currently preparing to attend medical school. Maureen’s first-hand experience of growing up in a medically-underserved neighborhood has inspired her to work directly with the same type of communities.
