Carlos graduated from Phillip & Sala Burton High School and faced many struggles as a young Latino growing up in inner-city San Francisco. With little support from others, Carlos relied on himself to remain motivated and focused on his academic, professional and career goals. Inspired to pursue higher education, he worked diligently to obtain his Associate’s degree at City College of San Francisco in 2011. He then transferred to San Francisco State University, majored in La Raza Studies and earned his Bachelor of Arts in 2013. Carlos will begin a Master of Education in Counseling program this fall at Boston University. He plans to become a high school counselor who will guide inner-city youth of color towards their academic and personal success.
